A 26-year-old Scottsdale man has been booked into jail on charges, including manslaughter, in connection with two crashes that occurred Monday morning in Chandler, police said.

Keith Taylor is a suspect in the collisions, one of which killed 73-year-old Melinda Epperson of Chandler who was hit while in a crosswalk, according to a Chandler Police Department release.

Chandler police responded about 7 a.m. Nov. 27 to Ocotillo Road at Paseo Trail for a collision where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

An investigation indicated the driver of an older BMW sedan was traveling east on Ocotillo Road, and a pedestrian was in the crosswalk for Paseo Trail. The car hit the woman, and the driver of the BMW fled eastbound on Ocotillo Road, police said.

The suspect vehicle then was involved in another collision after running a red light at McQueen and Ocotillo roads.

The driver fled on foot, and officers were able to locate and apprehend the suspect, according to the release, which stated speeding and impairment appear to be factors in the collision.
