The city of Scottsdale will host and Accessible Scottsdale Community Open House, an event where community members can learn about the city’s efforts to complete a self-assessment as part of updating Scottsdale’s ADA Transition Plan.
The open house takes place 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in Room 2 at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road, according to a press release.
This event offers an opportunity for people to share their experiences and provide input that will shape the future of accessibility in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale is working with a team of experts to update its ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. This comprehensive project will evaluate city buildings, sidewalks, intersections and programs to identify and develop a plan to remove barriers to access. The plan ensures that city properties and programs are accessible for all residents and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Scottsdale has launched the ADA Transition Plan Advocate program, a new initiative that invites community members to serve as accessibility advocates and help identify physical and programmatic barriers in real time throughout the city. Advocates will play a key role in supporting Scottsdale’s progress toward a more accessible environment – those interested can apply to be an advocate here.
