Scottsdale City Council approves WestWorld master plan update

Posted

An engineering services contract to develop a master plan update for WestWorld’s facility was approved by Scottsdale City Council at the July 7 meeting. The previous WestWorld master plan was completed in 2003.

The plan’s goal is to develop “innovative solutions that provide and improve a new entry off Bell Road, event parking, access to the facility, drainage, wash mitigation, asset management and other site amenities,” according to a city staff report.

Specific elements of the plan include programming, design plans, utility maps, field investigations, data collection, site analysis and project meetings.

Project meetings will address schedule updates, progress, current and upcoming tasks. Eight bi-weekly meetings will be held over the course of the first project phase.

Regarding utilities, the master plan specified documentation of existing infrastructure, potable and reclaimed water, electrical, natural gas and fiber optics.

A drainage map was also mentioned in the plan for looking at offsite flows, runoff, channel deficiencies, dead storage areas and the 100-year flood boundary.

Funds for the project are available from WestWorld’s revenue which includes attendee fees.

The proposed scope of work is a period of three to four months.
