Rick Watts announces bid for Fountain Hills Town Council

August primary election

The Times Independent is reaching out to candidates inviting them to participate with a story announcing their candidacy and introducing themselves to the public. The following was submitted by Rick Watts.

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Rick Watts and I am running for a seat on the Town Council during the Aug. 6, 2024 elections and am writing to ask for your support.

I’ve been a resident of the Town of Fountain Hills for more than 35 years. My background includes being a business owner, contractor for more than 40 years and recently a public servant. I have an extensive background in HVAC, energy and construction. But most importantly I have an in-depth understanding of finances including planning, forecasting and budgets.

I currently serve on the Town of Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission where you can see firsthand how I consider each issue, my approach, demeanor and underlying logic regarding the various issues and concerns.  I also serve on the NPOA / COA committee that oversees the architectural aspects of nearly 4,400 properties of our town, maintaining and protecting the neighborhood aesthetics resulting in protecting member property values. I also volunteer with the Sonoran Conservancy as trail host.

I don’t have all the answers at this time, but I do have the time, energy and desire to work towards reasonable solutions that serve the best interest of the town residents and the future of our town by evaluating the pros and cons of issues objectively based on residents’ input – Said another way – listening to residents to understand before making ungrounded decisions based solely on emotions.

My platform is really pretty simple, straight forward and revolves around issues such as fiscal responsibility, fire and life safety including law enforcement accountability, business development, and new business attraction. Open minded objective listening that results in fiscally responsible data driven decisions.

Please take a few minutes to visit my website at RickWattsFH.com to learn more about me.  If you have any questions that I can answer, please don’t hesitate to contact me via email at Rwatts2024@gmail.com.
