The new year of 2024 is also an election year in the Town of Fountain Hills as candidates for Town Council and the mayor’s office begin to roll out campaigns to encourage voters to support them.
Candidates reported their financial situations in January for the final quarter of 2023, Oct. 1, through Dec. 31. Town Clerk Linda Mendenhall has those reports posted to the town website fountainhillsaz.gov.
The race for mayor is shaping to be a potentially expensive race with former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio starting the year with $48,284 in his campaign coffers. Councilman Gerry Friedel, who is running for mayor, had $19,198 at the start of 2024. Incumbent Mayor Ginny Dickey just announced her intention to run again since the first of the year. Her campaign bank account has $349.87 to start the year.
