The Town of Queen Creek has released its 2022 Annual Water Quality Report, making available information about the source and quality of the town’s drinking water.

Federal law requires that suppliers of tap water make an annual report available on the quality of tap water.

Tap water in Queen Creek meets or exceeds all standards for water quality monitoring requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state of Arizona drinking water health standards, according to a press release.

Queen Creek’s water division monitors the quality of water through a series of chemical and bacteriological tests performed throughout the year. Queen Creek reported that of the regulated substances tested, all were within allowable levels and no health-based violations were reported, the release stated.

Last month, state officials announced that Arizona will no longer be issuing permits for new construction in the outlying areas of the Valley, including undeveloped land in Queen Creek.

Tom Buschatzke, the director of the Department of Water Resources, said an analysis of groundwater showed there will not be enough to meet the state-mandated assurance of a 100-year supply. The assurances are needed before any construction can commence.

Shortly after that announcement, Queen Creek officials released a statement that the action “impacts a small number of undeveloped properties in Queen Creek that do not have an assured water supply — those properties must find a renewable source of water before they can develop.”
The town added that the state’s move does not affect current town water customers nor projects already being developed.

“The town has been working proactively to diversify its water supply to reduce reliance on groundwater and remains committed to ensuring a safe, reliable supply of water today and into the future,” the news release on the water report reiterated. “

All current town of Queen Creek residential water customers have a certificate of 100-year assured water supply.
