Apache Junction Prospectors’ softball team shines on Senior Night, wins 16-1
Posted
By Isaac Robertson | Intern at AJUSD
The Apache Junction Prospectors (9-5) hosted the Tempe Buffaloes (8-13) in their final game of the season on April 24.
It was Senior Night and the Prospectors were celebrating seniors Payton Dillon, Anissa Rivera and Elvia Molinar as this was the final game of their high school careers.
The Prospectors took no time in getting the bats going. The team managed to notch seven runs in the first two innings, including a two-run home run by Rivera, who also knocked an RBI double later in the game. Molinar was able to get a two RBI single in her final at-bat of the year. Dillon also had a great senior night as she had a two-base hit game.
Shaunna Harper continued her great season as she only allowed one run through seven innings. She also managed to work out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth and seventh innings without allowing a run. At the plate, Harper went 3-3 with two triples, four RBIs and a hit by pitch.
While they missed the playoffs, the Prospectors managed to finish their season strong.
