Apache Junction Prospectors softball team loses to ALA Eagles, 16-5

The Apache Junction High School Prospectors (0-0-1) hosted the ALA Eagles (3-2) on Feb. 28. The Eagles were looking to get back on track after a tough loss to the Sunnyside Blue Devils the game before. The Prospectors were looking to nab their first win of the season.

The bats came alive early in the game with a two-run first inning for the Eagles. Mistakes from the Prospectors gave the Eagles even more opportunities to put runs on the board.

The Prospectors attempted to rally, mostly behind the bat of center fielder Anissa Rivera who tallied a total of four RBIs on the game including a home run to lead off the second inning. First baseman Cierra Devriese also tallied an RBI.

After a fielder’s choice to second base to end the game, the ALA Eagles moved up to 4-2 on the season, while the Prospectors fell to 0-1-1.
