Paradise Valley Police Chief Freeman Carney is teaming up with other police chiefs in the Valley for a fundraising event supporting Angels on Patrol.

Apache Junction Police Chief Mike Pooley has committed to hiking Mount Kilimanjaro with Chief Carney and Angels on Patrol July 14–26. Chief Carney also hopes to bring his oldest son to join him on this service trip before heading off to college in the fall.

The Paradise Valley Police Department partners with Angels on Patrol whose primary mission is to provide officer-initiated support to community members in times of crisis, according to Paradise Valley’s “Town Manager’s Weekly Update.”

Angels on Patrol has teamed up with K2 Adventures for this fundraiser, which will provide law enforcement with additional funds to help those in need and send Chief Carney to Tanzania. While there, he and other fundraisers for Angels on Patrol will spend two days volunteering at a local orphanage and embark on a hike up Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world and a dormant volcano, the newsletter stated.

Thanks to partnering with Angels on Patrol, officers now have a resource to utilize to get help to those in need. Angels on Patrol is the only nonprofit with the mission of helping officers go above and beyond the call of duty.
