Surprise mayoral candidate investigated for removing sign

City deems sign Aly Cline took down was illegally placed

Surprise City Councilmember Aly Cline and challenger Kevin Sartor staged their first mayoral candidate forum for the Northwest Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce last week.

But it turns out Cline is battling more than one opponent in this year’s election: Maricopa County prosecutors.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has under review a complaint a Surprise city activist made after Cline admitted on video in March she removed a sign promoting her election opponent that was affixed to a handicapped parking sign pole.
