Pinal County zoning ordinance update scrapped

The draft, no longer available on the county’s website, opened for a 90-day public review and comment period on Jan. 16 and was met with resident opposition. Many who spoke during the Jan. 29 supervisors’ meeting were upset that it limited the number of animals they could keep on their property.

The draft document of a Pinal County zoning ordinance update has been scrapped to allow for more public comment.

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 5 unanimously approved canceling the draft after listening to about 90 minutes of public comment and additional discussion by the board.

“I move that we disapprove or cancel the Pinal County draft update dated Jan. 6, 2025,” Vice-Chairman Jeffrey McClure, District 4 supervisor, said in making the motion.
