Pinal County to host housing-needs meeting in Apache Junction

All Pinal County citizens are invited to voice their comments regarding housing and community development needs, strategies to meet identified needs, and identifying barriers to those needs. Public input is an essential component of this planning effort.

Meetings with Pinal County officials will be held in Apache Junction, San Tan Valley and Florence to gather information on housing and community development needs and priorities for the next five years, and to solicit ideas for potential projects.
The meetings at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center, 1035 N. Idaho Road; 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Pinal County offices at 31505 N. Schnepf Road in San Tan Valley; and 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Pinal County 1891 Historic Courthouse, 135 N. Pinal St. in Florence are about the 2024-28 consolidated plan and fiscal year 2024 annual action plan program funding, according to a public notice.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires Pinal County to publish a five-year consolidated plan, analysis of impediments to fair housing, and an annual action plan outlining the use of HUD funds for the Community Development Block Grant Program, HOME Investment Partnership and Emergency Solutions Grant funds, the notice states.
All Pinal County citizens are invited to voice their comments regarding housing and community development needs, strategies to meet identified needs, and identifying barriers to those needs. Public input is an essential component of this planning effort, the notice states.
Pinal County has published and posted a citizen participation plan that outlines the public process at pinal.gov/grants.
For planning purposes, the county anticipates approximately $2 million in CDBG funding, $650,000 in HOME funding and $150,000 in ESG funding for each year of the consolidated plan period. Funding may fluctuate during the five-year planning period.
