Pilot program gives Goodyear residents mental health service access

Posted

The city of Goodyear has launched a new program to remove two major barriers that prevent residents from seeking mental health services.

The city is working with Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona (TRSAZ) to connect Goodyear residents with professional mental health providers virtually and with no out-of-pocket costs.

“We want our residents to be able to get the care they need and not worry about access or cost for treatment,” Mayor Joe Pizzillo shared in a press release. "One barrier we hear of is financial. That's why through this new city pilot program, Goodyear residents are eligible to receive services with no out-of-pocket costs."

Another barrier is access. Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona provides virtual appointments, making it easier to receive care from the comfort of home and as quickly as possible.

“It’s unheard of for a city to do it,” Jordanna Saunders, Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona CEO, stated. "It shows the city cares about its residents and wants to make it as easy as possible for people to get the help they need.”

TRSAZ offers individual, couples, family and group therapy, EMDR, general mental health and severe trauma services.
