Pickleball courts coming to Chandler’s Tumbleweed Park

The Chandler City Council has agreed to spend up to $282,000 for a company to design new pickleball courts at Tumbleweek Park.

The professional services agreement with Dig Studio will include construction of an 18-court pickleball facility, according to a release.

Chandler has built 10 pickleball courts in parks since 2018, below the national standard pickleball court ratio of one court per 12,000 people, the release stated.

The new courts will exceed the ratio, and the city’s goal is to meet or exceed the standard as the community grows, officials said.

The project may include, but is not limited to lighted pickleball, shade ramadas, restrooms, practice areas, landscaping, lighting, restrooms, drinking fountains and parking, according to the city.

The new courts will be south of Germann Road, just east of the Tumbleweed Recreation Center.
