The Phoenix Union High School District is partnering up to fill 150 teacher vacancies.

The District and iteach, an alternative teacher preparation and certification program, have entered into an memorandum of understanding to help expand Phoenix’s pool of qualified teachers in classrooms.

Phoenix Union High School District serves 24 schools, more than 27,000 students, and nearly 4,000 employees.

“A district of our size can never have enough qualified, talented, and dedicated teachers to prepare every student for success in college, career, and life,” Deana Williams, the District talent director, shared in a press release. “Our partnership with iteach expands our pool to find quality teachers that fit our diverse culture.”

The partnership will give Phoenix Union High School District full control of the teacher-candidate recruitment process. iteach will provide test preparation and educator platforms, will create and assess all coursework, and will offer ongoing maintenance and support.

iteach provides candidates all the courses they need to earn a Standard License in Arizona (and 10 other states and counting). iteach was approved by the Arizona Department of Education in 2022 and supports the complete lifecycle of the educator journey from test preparation, to initial certification and licensure, to coaching, professional development, additional endorsements, and career advancement.
