Phoenix PD: Man shot after ‘forcefully entering house’

A 30-year-old man was shot and later died after police said he “forcefully” entered a Phoenix home late Thursday night.

Just before 11 p.m. Oct. 5, police responded to a 911 call from a man at a house near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road. On their way to the home near 1700 West Coolidge Street, the caller informed police that he had shot the man entering his house, according to authorities.

Police found Ricky Gomez, 30, suffering from a gunshot would. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

The homeowner was not arrested. Charges will be submitted and reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office following an investigation, police said.
