Peoria Education Foundation gives out $51K in scholarships to high school seniors

The Peoria Education Foundation announced this week that it has awarded $51,000 in scholarships to Peoria Unified high school seniors this year.
The foundation awards various scholarships for high school seniors in six categories: Against All Odds,
The Against All Odds Scholarship recognizes Peoria Unified high school seniors who have overcome adversity and obstacles to successfully complete their graduation requirements and plan to continue their education. Recipients are:
McKinley Blanton, Liberty High School
Maya Carr, Sunrise Mountain High School
Gracelynn Kastler, Liberty High School
Mia Machado, Raymond S. Kellis High School
Bebe McCarthy, Liberty High School
Katherine Miskimen, Centennial High School
Marissa Ochoa, Peoria High School
Cassandra Pavlov, Liberty High School
Arturo Payan, Cactus High School
Adrian Plichta, Ironwood High School
Julie Richards, Liberty High School
Kayla Starr, Ironwood High School
The Community Service Scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a strong commitment to the community and excel academically. Each student who has been awarded this scholarship completed more than 100 hours of community service. The recipients are:

The Dr. Santarelli Leadership Scholarship honors the achievements of graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in leadership throughout their high school career. The recipients are:

The Rosella and Hugo Sickinger Memorial Scholarship is given to one female student who demonstrates leadership and poise. The recipient is:

Lastly, the Project Unify Scholarship & Award is given to exemplary partners and athletes for their participation in the Unified Sports program on their high school campus.

Scholarship recipients were recognized at a scholarship reception on April 3 at Centennial High School.
Since 1987, the Peoria Education Foundation has offered grants to teachers in the Peoria Unified School District to enhance the educational experience of students. The foundation is an IRS designated 501(c)(3) which provides scholarships to students and grants to teachers within the district.
