My Sister’s Closet CEO and founder Ann Siner, of Paradise Valley, announced a $200,000 donation to benefit two charities.

Siner donates the funds through her nonprofit My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store, 4985 S. Alma School Road, B-103, and this holiday season she has chosen the Arizona Humane Society and Fresh Start Women’s Foundation to receive the funds.

Siner’s My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store began the season of giving by first donating  $100,000 to the Arizona Humane Society for their spay/neuter program. The funds will help pet families that cannot afford veterinary care and help reduce pet overpopulation in the community.

Arizona Humane Society calls the My Sister’s Closet CEO an amazing animal advocate who has given a generous gift to their pets.

“Ann is truly a cornerstone in the philanthropic community who continues to lead the way in giving Arizona’s homeless pets a brighter future,” said Dr. Steven Hansen, Arizona Humane Society President and CEO. “AHS is incredibly grateful for Ann and My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store for helping us save 22,000 of the Valley’s sick, injured and abused pets each year. Countless animals with nowhere else to turn have been given a second chance thanks to Ann and her team. We cannot thank her enough.”

My Sisters’ Charities Thrift store also gave $100,000 to Fresh Start Women’s Foundation so the organization can help reach more women needing help this holiday season.

Since its founding more than 30 years ago, Fresh Start has advanced its mission of providing education, resources, and support for women to positively transform their lives and strengthen the community. Fresh Start’s vision is for every woman to reach their full potential by achieving personal empowerment and financial self-sufficiency.

"We sincerely thank Ann for her visionary leadership, longtime support and incredible commitment to helping women transform their lives,” said Kim McWaters, President and CEO of Fresh Start. “This generous donation helps Fresh Start support and empower more than 4,000 women a year, offering life-changing access and resources toward achieving self-sufficiency and becoming heroes in their own lives. Ann understands that lifting up women changes their children’s lives and positively impacts our community for generations to come. We are immensely grateful for her partnership."

To date, My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store has donated $399,000 to Fresh Start. Siner began her donations to the Arizona Humane Society in 1996 and has given $1,550,000 in cash donations and $1,250,000 in-kind donations during those 27 years.

The donations to Fresh Start and Arizona Humane Society come directly from My Sisters’ Charities, a 501c3 organization where they sell unsold goods from My Sister’s Closet, My Sister’s Attic and Well Suited. Siner donates all the time and expertise to make the thrift store a success.

In 2022, My Sisters’ Charities netted roughly $500,000. Those monies only go to nonprofits that benefit homeless pets, wildlife and women.

“We started My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store many years ago as a non-profit with the sole purpose of giving back to causes that benefit pets, wildlife, and women,” said Siner. “Now, nearly eight years later, we have been able to make a tremendous impact because of our consigners who choose to donate their clothes in lieu of picking up the items that don’t sell.”
