Paradise Valley Police Department Officer Edgar Rodriguez is this year’s recipient of the award for “outstanding achievement in law enforcement” from Phoenix Elks Lodge Public Safety Appreciation Night.
Elks Lodge is a dedicated supporter of law enforcement.
Rodriguez joined the town from the Arizona State University Police Department in April 2022 and has consistently proven to be a rising star within our ranks, stated the Town Manager’s Weekly Update. Currently serving as a field training officer, he is actively engaged in training the department’s first recruit, Officer Roman Butticci.
Rodriguez participates in numerous training sessions aimed at enhancing his skills in combating crime and ensuring the safety of the community. Notably, he has completed HGN (Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus) training and ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement) training. He also recently completed the Reid Interview and Interrogation class, providing him with specialized training in responding to individuals experiencing mental health crises, according to the newsletter.
Rodriguez has demonstrated leadership within the department, leading in total DUI arrests and earning the prestigious MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Officer of the Year award. He is among the department’s leaders in traffic stops, arrests, and citizen contacts.
In addition to his service to the community, Rodriguez has contributed to the department. He’s proposed innovative ideas, including a new uniform style. His attention to detail and dedication to the well-being of officers ensured that the proposal was not only approved but also swiftly implemented, the newsletter stated.
Beyond his professional life, Rodriguez is a devoted family man.
