Omni opens 330-room Tempe hotel with mix of restaurants, bars

The Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU has opened at the southeast corner of Mill Avenue and University Drive, a $125 million investment and part of a public-private partnership with Arizona State University and the city.

In celebration of this opening, the property held a ribbon-cutting ceremony where Chairman of Omni Hotels & Resorts Peter Strebel, General Manager Todd Gagnon, Tempe Mayor Corey Woods and ASU President Michael Crow addressed the crowd.

A press release explained that the latest lifestyle hotel from Omni Hotels & Resorts welcomed its first guests on April 27,  introducing a new social hub for the community.

The hotel includes 330 rooms, 11 suites and 36,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting spaces, including the largest ballroom in Tempe, according to a release. There are also four restaurants and bars:

  • Lucero Rooftop, featuring sunset views, craft cocktails and food.
  • Neighborhood Services, serving daily favorites.
  • Salt & Gila, the third-floor pool with fire pits, food and beverages.
  • Library Rules, coffee and pastries in the morning, wines and light bites at night.

“Every Omni hotel is inspired by the authentic spirit of the destination,” Peter Strebel, Omni hotels and resorts chairman, said.

“This hotel was inspired by the energy of ASU, the booming growth of Tempe and the exciting people and tapestry of Arizona.”

Omni operates more than 50 hotels and resorts in leisure and business destinations in the United States and Canada.

“The name and legacy of the Omni brand introduces a new level of hospitality to Tempe,” Mayor Corey Woods said.

“Tempe already is an excellent tourism and business destination. The addition of Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU will only improve that.”

Todd Gagnon, general manager of the property, said a goal was "to create an exceptional environment for students, visitors and locals alike – whether visiting from out of town or here for a staycation you can truly immerse yourself in everything that makes Tempe special."

Through May 31, 2023, the hotel is offering discounted rates to celebrate its freshman year. For information, visit omnihotels.com.
