11 potential candidates line up for Peoria Unified governing board election

3 seats are open for November election, district spans Peoria, Glendale

With the deadline for candidate nomination packets for the Peoria Unified School District governing board election nearing, 11 potential candidates are considering running for a seat.

There will be three seats open on the board come January 2025, each to be voted on in the Nov. 5 general election.

The open seats are currently filled by Rebecca Proudfit, David Sandoval and Bill Sorensen, whose terms will terminate at the end of the year. Proudfit and Sandoval have submitted statements of interest to the office of Maricopa County School Superintendent for this election. Sorensen is not running for reelection.
