Mesa police have identified the woman found early Tuesday morning floating in a Dobson Ranch Golf Course lake and said there is no indication of foul play.
Palma Whatcott, 71, was found in the lake Tuesday, Feb. 7, by authorities after a worker at the golf course notified them that he saw a body in the water.
Police said the woman’s brother, who lives near the golf course, told them she was suffering from dementia and had recently moved in with him.
“It appears that Whatcott was able to open the back gate of her brother’s residence and gain access to the golf course and the water,” police said in a release.
“The case is ongoing, but there is no indication of foul play.”
