The Mesa City Council recently received an encouraging update on the city’s climate action plan.
Over the last two years, the city has invested nearly $15.4 million in Mesa Climate Action Plan projects. The funding was used for various projects and initiatives such as the community electric vehicle adoption plan, the initiative to plant one million trees, water conservation, solar and electric vehicle infrastructure, watershed protection, renewable energy generated via biomass, and other initiatives, according to information provided at the council’s April 15 study session.
“These projects would not have been able to be done without the dedicated MCAP funding. Kudos to the council for understanding the importance of these things,” Laura Hyneman, Mesa deputy director of environment and sustainability, said at the study session.
