New Adventures in Learning celebrates 25 years

Posted

New Adventures in Learning marks 25 years of providing educational opportunities and, on Dec. 8, program staff will celebrate the milestone at the Sun Lakes campus of Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The event, open to all members and presenters past and present, will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The campus is at the corner of Alma School and Riggs roads.

The program, which is run entirely by volunteers and supported by Chandler Gilbert Community College staff, gives older adults access to several hundred classes during the course of a year, according to a release.

Volunteer presenters offer classes every spring, summer and fall semester with topics as diverse as military history and artificial intelligence.

“New Adventures in Learning is exercise for the brain," Rob Truman, council president, said.

"Nothing is better than being able to learn and share information and experiences with like-minded individuals.”

New Adventures in Learning began in 1998 when a group of Sun Lakes residents and CGCC saw a need for a program for seniors who value lifelong learning, the release stated.
