A Mountain Ridge High School graduate has helped launch a nonprofit organization to unite teens around the world in their pursuit of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Tina Sindwani, 17, a 2020 graduate from Mountain Ridge, 22800 N. 67th Ave., Glendale, partnered with two New York- and New Jersey-based students as editors-in-chief of The Scientific Teen. It features a tagline “By Teens, For Teens.”

“It is a STEM communication organization that aims to provide teens around the world a voice in STEM,” Tina said in an email to the Glendale Independent. “We currently have over 100 teens contributing from over 20 countries to our organization in the form of science/research articles, a podcast, art/STEM designs, and an under-development YouTube series.”

All three students have been involved with the organization since its inception in June  2018.

The Scientific Teen also features interviews with STEM professionals, international outreach events, and is close to developing a hard-copy magazine.

“Our journey over two years has been amazing, with a lot of ups and downs,” Tina added, “but it’s wonderful to be able to engage a larger community than ever, with an international reach of over 3000 people.”

Tina serves as director of the organization, plus the lead for the podcast and YouTube series teams. She currently studies computer systems engineering at Arizona State University.
