The Mesa Police Department Traffic Unit will be participating in the Cinco de Mayo DUI Task Force beginning today and extending through Saturday, May 6.

In conjunction with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Mesa officers will be part of a task force unit that will concentrate enforcement between 5 p.m. until 3 a.m. each night of the operation.

The location of the task force will move each night to ensure coverage throughout the East Valley, officials said in a release.

“The Mesa Police Department encourages everyone to enjoy the holiday weekend responsibly and designate a sober driver,” the release stated, adding reckless, unsafe or suspected DUI driving should be reported to local law enforcement.

The Mesa Police Department non–emergency line is 480-644-2211.
