Mesa police arrest man in BoSa Donuts shooting

A suspect has been arrested and booked on charges stemming from a shooting at a Mesa doughnut shop that injured an employee and customer.

Donald Williams, 30, was arrested Wednesday, April 5, in connection with the shooting at the BoSa Donuts, 805 N. Dobson Road, police said.

The shooting occurred about 3:15 a.m. April 2 when one of the victims called police and said a man entered the shop and began arguing with him and the employees.

As the caller backed away from the counter, the suspect moved toward it, showed a handgun and shot one of the workers, police said, adding he also fired shots at two other employees that did not strike them.

The caller left the shop, got in his car and tried to leave. The suspect left the shop and fired several rounds at him before running away, police said.

The victims were taken to a hospital. One has been released, the other remains hospitalized, police said Wednesday night.

During an interview with detectives after he was arrested, “Williams admitted his involvement in this shooting and provided detectives with information where he disposed of the handgun used in this incident. Detectives are actively working to locate and recover this handgun,” police said in a release.

Williams faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
