Parents looking for resources for talking with their children social justice in the wake of current events that include anti-racism protests across the nation can turn to their local libraries.

Maricopa County Library District has compiled a list of books for those who want to learn more about social justice or who need resources for talking to their children, the district announced on its Facebook page, @mcldaz.

The collection features titles for adults, teens and juveniles, as well as picture books and films.

The library district’s Featured Collection shares lists curated by librarians to help residents find more information about current events and timely subjects.

“The collection highlights titles for all age groups, in a variety of formats that can help you learn more about social justice and anti-racism issues in the Black community,” a passage on the Featured Collection page states.

Website users can click on each title for a summary, and see what format is available.

Website users also can use the district’s Book a Librarian service to schedule one-on-one telephone calls to receive professional assistance in the areas of homework help, general reference questions, help setting up a device to use digital library products, library card services, and help finding digital library content.

They also may schedule a video conference call to get a new library card, provide an updated address to their account, or convert your digital-only library card to a standard adult library account.

To use the Book a Librarian service, users can fill out the form on the website to request a phone call. Appointments can be made 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
