Maricopa County coronavirus cases continue to hit 1,000 a day

Maricopa County continues to top more than 1,000 coronavirus cases per day as counts continue to surge around the Valley and state.
The county added 1,325 cases as of its report on Thursday morning to stand at 170,634, according to the Maricopa County Department of Health. Deaths were up 20 from the previous day to 3,754 total.
Maricopa County is experiencing its largest case surge since early summer, with seven-day daily average of cases at 1,053 as of Monday, more than four times what it was on Oct. 1, at 236 cases. That average has been rising and likely will be adjust as more cases come in.
The county’s seven-day daily average of deaths remained relative flat at six per day as of Oct.26.
During the county’s summer spike, cases reached 3,809 cases in a day on June 29. The county is experiencing another surge, but case numbers in recent days, with last Friday’s high of 1,495 cases, just crossed a third of the worst day in the summer. The current surge shows no signs yet of slowing down.
