Police are investigating a fatal collision the occurred early Saturday morning at 43rd Avenue and Roosevelt Street.
At about 3:10 a.m. April 5, officers responded to the 4300 block of West Roosevelt Street and found Aaron Jaycob Williams, 24, who was taken to a hospital but did not survive his injuries, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
Preliminary information suggests Williams was westbound on Roosevelt Street when he attempted to pass another westbound vehicle by entering the eastbound lanes, the release stated.
“While doing so, Williams’ vehicle struck the involved semi-truck, which was traveling eastbound on Roosevelt Street, head on.”
Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision, police said, adding the crash investigation continues.
