A suspect has been booked on a murder count after a 36-year-old man was found stabbed to death in central Phoenix, police said.

Alexander Martin Roman Reyes, 25, was arrested  in connection with the stabbing, which occurred about 9 a.m. July 31 near 17th Avenue and Spruce Street, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

Officers responded after Phoenix Fire Department personnel found Gabriel Trejo with multiple stab wounds.  Trejo was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives processed the scene and canvassed surveillance footage before identifying the suspect who was arrested nearby, police said.

Detectives said they do not believe any other suspects are outstanding, but an investigation continues.
