RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Khamil Pierre had 21 points and 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double to start the season, Zoe Brooks added 16 points and No. 25 N.C. State beat Campbell 80-45 on Wednesday night.

Pierre scored eight points in the second quarter, including a basket to start an 8-0 closing run for a 43-23 lead at halftime. She also had three of her team’s 10 steals in the first half as N.C. State scored 12 points off 12 Campbell turnovers.

N.C. State began the third on an 11-0 run to go ahead 54-23. Annsley Trivette made the first basket of the fourth to give the Wolfpack their largest lead at 70-29.

Trivette finished with 10 points off the bench for N.C. State (2-0), which defeated Wofford 80-50 on Monday.

Hana Predojevic led Campbell (0-2) with 11 points. The Fighting Camels dropped their home opener 62-47 to Austin Peay in their first game under coach Ali Jaques.

NO. 6 TEXAS 85, FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON 65

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Madison Booker scored 24 points as part of a forceful all-around performance, helping Texas open its season with a victory against Fairleigh Dickinson.

Booker, a two-time AP first-team All-American, began her senior season with seven rebounds, five steals and five assists.

Center Breya Cunningham, also a senior, had 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Reese Downey scored 17 points to lead Fairleigh Dickinson, the two-time defending Northeast Conference champion. The Knights made 10 3-point shots in 20 attempts. Downey went 5 for 11.

Fairleigh Dickinson outshot Texas overall 48% to 45.3 but committed 18 turnovers. Texas turned them into 22 points.

NO. 7 LOUISVILLE 87, STETSON 35

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Imari Berry scored 16 points for Louisville and the Cardinals took advantage of 30 Stetson turnovers in a victory.

Taijanna Roberts added 14 for the Cardinals (2-0), who had four score in double figures.

Louisville never trailed, but Wednesday’s victory was much more of a grind than their season-opening 119-47 win over Bellarmine on Monday, especially in the first half. They converted the turnovers by the Hatters (1-1) into 40 points.

The offensive struggle started early for Louisville, which missed its first six shots and made just 2 of 10 late in the second quarter, until Roberts’ 3-pointer with 19 seconds left extended the host’s lead to 40-20. That lead came despite the Cardinals making just 11 of 31 (35.5%) from the field and committing 12 turnovers themselves in the first half.

The shots started to fall for the Cardinals after halftime as they went on a 28-2 run, hitting on 12 of 13 during a 5:42 stretch in the third. A Roberts jumper extended the lead to 68-22 with 90 seconds left in the third.

The Cardinals shot 57.1% (20-for-35) in the second half and committed just five turnovers. Four of those came in the final 5:32 as coach Jeff Walz emptied the bench.

NO. 8 VANDERBILT 100, QUEENS (NC) 42

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Preseason All-American Mikayla Blakes scored 22 of her 24 points in the first half as Vanderbilt routed Queens.

Blakes’ strong effort help the Commodores (2-0) score a school-record 73 points in the opening 20 minutes. Vanderbilt was up 73-11 at the break as four other players hit double-digits in the first half. The reigning SEC Freshman of the Year Aubrey Galvin scored 13 while Olivia Jones and Mia Woolfolk each had 12. Aiyana Mitchell added 10.

Queens responded to a lighter push from Vanderbilt in the closing half. With nearly every Vanderbilt starter on the bench, the Royals scored 12 in the third quarter and then 19 in the final period.

Ashantay Noble was the lone bright spot for Queens (0-2) with eight points and five rebounds.

NO. 23 ILLINOIS 84, DETROIT MERCY 50
