I cannot agree more (“Firefighters need help, too,” Sun City Independent, March 29, 2023).
As a retired firefighter and paramedic from Washington, I have been involved in several critical incident stress debriefings. I have had more than a dozen of my coworkers and members of nearby departments who have committed suicide, most well into their careers.
What needs to be done is finding grants for CISD, which I believe are out there.
