Hope Ruth Simpson
Posted
SUN CITY - Hope Ruth Simpson, passed away on August 31, 2013. She was born on August 8, 1916, in Prairie Farm, Wisconsin to Feri and Omer Sandow along with her brother, Doug. She learned to play piano at an early age, and continued playing and composing throughout her life. Hope became a teacher, and over the course of 33 years was a delight to thousands of Michigan elementary school children, as shown by the many letters and drawings, which she lovingly kept and treasured. Many wooed her, but Tommy Simpson won her heart. When Tommy retired, they moved to Sun City, and Hope found new friends, and new pastimes: Aerobic dancing for 15 years with Rose Schwartz' group, bridge groups, symphony and Theater Works. Their marriage was blissful for forty years, until his passing in 1993. She always dressed beautifully, and left a lasting impression wherever she went. Her blue eyes, black hair and fabulous style were legend. She was optimistic, filled with joy of life, and a love of learning, which she shared with all. She lived up to her name every day. She was an inspiration to all she met throughout her life. Special thanks to incredible friends, Jo Lawyer and Guila Lafayette; and "Team Hope" members, Anita Wilde, Melinda Martin, Jo Harbula and Sherry Holland. Remaining family members are stepson, "Butch" Simpson; and nephews, Tim and Barry Sandow and families. A celebration of life will be planned for mid to late October. Please check with Sunland Mortuary or Anita Wilde at arwildegg@gmail.com for details.
