Ken Eddy, better known as “Teton Ken,” a historian who portrays the legendary Jacob Waltz at museums, events and schools, has been named grand marshal of the 2023 Lost Dutchman Days Parade, according to the Apache Junction Area Chamber of Commerce.

The parade begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at Phelps, just west of Idaho Road, and goes west on Apache Trail to Ironwood and returns. The parade allows viewers to see and line up on either side of the route.

Teton Ken, with his trusty burro Mary, appears as the Lost Dutchman at the Superstition Mountain Museum and at events throughout the area. He tells the legend of the Dutchman, the history of the area and more, according to a release.

Having lived in the area for more than 20 years, Teton Ken has become an expert on the legend of the Dutchman mine and the history of the Superstition Mountains, telling the stories at regular museum appearances as well as at programs at schools and the library.

The parade is part of the Lost Dutchman Days weekend, which includes a carnival and rodeo Feb. 24-26 at the Apache Junction Rodeo Grounds, at Tomahawk Road and Lost Dutchman Boulevard.
