Goodyear police seek help locating missing elderly woman

Goodyear police are asking the public for help in locating a 60-year-old resident who went missing from a residence in Estrella Mountain Ranch early Friday morning.

Susan Maalihan Irwin had only lived in Goodyear a few months when she disappeared from a residence near Estrella Parkway and Calistoga Drive around 2 a.m. on July 1. Police say she does not have any known friends in the city and does not drive.

Her family says that she has memory issues and has shown moderate signs of dementia.

Irwin stands about five feet tall and weighs approximately 100 pounds. She is Filipino and has short, dark, graying hair, dark eyes and wears glasses.

Irwin is a ‘Filipino speaker’ and speaks little English, according to police. Irwin has no cell phone and she is without her medications.

Police also said that Irwin may be carrying a small black Guess purse with a thin shoulder strap and has a Washington State ID. Her clothing is unknown, but she may be wearing a long sleeve, loose-fitting shirt and loose-fitting pants.

She will not approach strangers and is fearful of dogs. Police said that she is “very polite” and will respond when spoken to. She feels comfortable at airports and bus stops from previous travel, police said.

Please call the Goodyear Department Police at 623-932-1220 with any information.
