Goodyear Library closing permanently, reopening at new city hall

Van Buren location to close July 22 after eight years

The Goodyear Branch Library will have limited services leading up to its closure and reopening at Goodyear Civic Square on Aug. 1. 

Goodyear’s only public library, located at 14455 W. Van Buren Street, will have limited services and reduced hours beginning Monday, June 27.

Beginning next week library will be closed on Sundays and hours will be limited to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The library will be limited to curbside pick-up on June 27. 

Visitors will still be able to pick up materials on hold, return media at the drop box, pick up summer reading prizes and access library card services until its closure.   

The library will close for good on Friday, July 22. The Goodyear Branch Library will reopen on Aug. 1 as the Georgia T. Lord Library, located at 1900 N. Civic Square. 

The library’s opening will be part of a general grand opening of the city’s long-awaited mix-use project that will also include a dedicated city hall and a community park. 

Goodyear Branch Library first opened at the Van Buren location in February of 2014 at the expense of $1.1 million approved by the Goodyear City Council.
