The 15th annual World Labyrinth Day, “Global Walk for Peace,” took place in 26 countries, from Africa to Tasmania, May 6. Eleven walks took place in Arizona, including at the Labyrinths at the Palms in Sun City.
The Sun City walk was facilitated by Dr. Robin Dilley of Arizona Labyrinth Connections and hosted by Doing Grief Community Healing Project at the Church of the Palms, 14808 N. Boswell Blvd.
The Sun City walk drew 34 participants from as far away as Ahwatukee. Dilley, an advanced Veriditas Labyrinth Facilitator, shared a brief introduction of the Labyrinth and World Labyrinth Day.
“Walking a Labyrinth is simple but often feels complex as the single path to the center and back out to the entrance is a circuitous path,” explained Dilley. “A path that meanders back and forth, taking the walker further from the destination, then eventually providing a direct path to the center.”
Dilley invited participants to focus on peace in war-torn countries such as Syria, Sudan and Ukraine, and in the USA for the LGBTQ community and ending the epidemic of gun violence.
“Participants walked what we call ‘the three R’s,” said Dilley. “Releasing what needs to be released on the path into the center of the labyrinth, receiving what you need in the center space, and on the path out, returning to the world to be a force of peace.”
Arizona Labyrinth Connections provides educational and experiential Zoom workshops and in-person Labyrinth events. Dilley is available to create and design a Labyrinth event for individuals and organizations.
