A Glendale nonprofit is accepting nominations to recognize those making a difference in the community.
YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix, located at 8561 N. 61st Ave., is sponsoring its Tribute to Leadership Awards Program, an annual celebration to recognize the accomplishments of community leaders who strive to improve the lives of women, girls and people of color through leadership, advocacy and community service.
Residents may honor a woman who inspires and advocates for a just community.
Candidates can be nominated for a “Tribute Leader,” for someone who works primarily in or has a primary impact in Arizona, will be evaluated on leadership, and exhibits and embodies the mission of YWCA: eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Candidates can nominated as an “Emerging Leader,” for someone less than five years into their profession and who works primarily in or has a primary impact in Arizona, shows leadership capabilities and/or innovation, and exhibits and embodies the mission of YWCA.
Examples of nominees include educators, advocates, artists, student leaders, athletes, activists, business leaders, entrepreneurs, public policy advocates, medical professionals (spiritual care and mental health), non-profit leaders, etc.
Deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, Nov. 30.
YWCA’s Tribute to Leadership Awards Program has recognized 264 honorees since 1994.
All nominees and their nominators will be notified in December and invited to attend a private January reception for the official announcement of the honorees.
