While online registration is closed, residents can still sign up on site this Sunday to participate in the Family Bike Ride in Glendale.
The annual free event allows residents of all ages and skill levels to exercise, check out scenery along bike paths, and indulge in healthy treats and games.
In honor of Valley Bike Month in April, the Family Bike Ride covers the city’s bike pathways, bridges, trails and parks. Bicyclists can choose from three routes: Short (7 miles), Long (15 miles) or Extended (23 miles), and refuel on snacks and water provided along the journey.
All bikers must wear a helmet. Residents can also bring an old helmet to have transformed into a planter and obtain a free helmet. The first 500 people registered and in attendance at the event will receive a free T-shirt. Those who complete the ride will get a unique participation medal.
The ride starts at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, while check-in and on-site registration begins at 7 a.m. Bicyclists must be on the road in their respective routes by 8:30 a.m.
It all takes place at Sahuaro Ranch Park, 9802 N. 59th Ave., at the corner of 59th Avenue and Mountain View Road.
