Andrés Martínez and Ritmo Latino will perform a free Valentine’s Day concert in Peoria.
Look for salsa, cumbia, cha cha, and Latin jazz at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, 10580 N. 83rd Drive.
Martínez is a Phoenix-based artist originally from Sonora, Mexico, who has been performing in the Southwest since 2008. He has performed on big stages, including the Super Bowl XLIX festivities, The Nash, and, most notably, his performances of the "Star Spangled Banner" at multiple professional sporting events.
“Whether with a loved one, a family member, or a good friend, this concert celebrates the presence of love in all our lives, set to a Latin beat,” Marylou Stephens, Arts, Culture, and Library Services Director with Peoria, shared in a press release.
The evening will include door prizes including tickets to the Theater Works’ musical “Something Rotten,” which runs Feb. 2-18. Complimentary reservations are suggested and available online at theaterworks.org or by calling 623-815-7930.
The show is part of the city’s Global Sounds Series of free Wednesday concerts every month at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. Following the Valentine’s Day show, look for Kilted Spirit, an Irish and Celtic rock band delivering jigs and reels, on March 13.
“These musicians share their passion and talent to transport the audience to another culture,” Stephens stated about the series, which runs through June. “This immersive experience offers the audience an emotional renewal through an international excursion of music.”
