Police officers from Surprise and Scottsdale partnered recently for a two-day task force and made 42 arrests in an effort to reduce sex-trafficking  in the Valley, authorities said.

Operation March Sadness included officers from the Surprise Police Department’s Special Victim’s Unit and the Human Exploitation and Trafficking Team from the Scottsdale Police Department.

Of the 42 arrests, three were for luring or attempted sexual conduct with a minor, and 39 were related to prostitution, according to a release from the Surprise Police Department.

One of the suspects arrested is a registered sex offender.

Authorities ask anyone with information about human and sex trafficking to contact local police and the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888 or humantraffickinghotline.org.
