INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A collision between an SUV and a Jeep left one man with critical injuries and also injured a family of five, Phoenix police said Tuesday.
Phoenix police detectives are investigating the collision that occurred just after 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4 near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road.
The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, according to a release. The Jeep was occupied by a man, woman and their three children. They were all taken to a hospital with various non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said early information indicates the SUV was going west on McDowell Road when the driver lost control and went into the eastbound lanes, colliding head on with the Jeep.
Impairment is unknown for the driver of the SUV, police said, adding there were no signs of impairment for the driver of the Jeep.
Information about what led up to the collision remain part of the ongoing investigation, police said.
