SUN CITY WEST - Ernestine (Susie) Marsh passed peacefully while in hospice care on June 14 following a stroke a week earlier. Susie was born on June 27, 1921 to Fern and Ernest Woodworth in Boulder, Colorado. Susie attained a degree in Home Economics at Colorado State. She was a lab technician at the Borden Company in Syracuse, New York. She was a member of the American Association of University of Women, Home Economics Club, Interfaith Council and the Sun Health Auxiliary. Susie volunteered at Banner hospital, as a Steven Minister, at the Sun City West Visitor Center and at Meal on Wheels. She also taught English as a Second Language and delivered groceries to homebound seniors. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church for 28 years where she served on many committees. Susie was married to William C. Marsh from 1946 until his death on June 22, 2000. They raised four children; Greg Marsh, Lynne Marsh, Jim Marsh, Carol Marsh Satej. Susie and Bill lived in Marysville, Ohio from 1949 - 1986. They retired to Sun City West in 1986. Susie had the excellent fortune to share amazing experiences and road trips throughout the U.S. and Canada with companion Dave Kaufmann of Sun City West, from 2002 until his death on June 13, 2013. Many thanks to Dave's daughter Debbie and husband Dean Chatfield for their care and friendship to Susie, especially in the past year. And the family so appreciates Susie's other many friends. Even on the morning of her stroke and a week before her death she met with one group of friends at McDonalds. They said she was visiting and laughing as usual. Susie was a master vacationer, cheerful volunteer, compassionate, corn chowder expert, good listener, excellent organizer, thoughtful, fabulous bridge and pinochle player, giving, musical and had a great sense of humor and amazing inner strength. Happy trails.
