SUN CITY WEST - The world lost the most amazing woman, but heaven gained the brightest angel, as Dottie Hostetler passed away on the evening of Nov. 29, 2016. Dottie was reunited with her daughter, Marsha after 39 years. She married Herb Hostetler Aug. 10, 1960, where they began their life together in Hacienda Heights, Calif. Together they enjoyed many travels and adventures in their 56 years. In the mid 1960's Dottie and Herb worked in construction, interior design and custom draperies. In 1981 they began another chapter when they moved to Salida, Colo., and achieved their dream of restoring an old building and turning it into a successful Bed and Breakfast, "The Poor Farm Country Inn". In 2002 they set out for another adventure as they retired and moved to Sun City West. In 1974 she traveled to Europe with Herb, their two children, her parents, and the Glen A. Wilson High School Band. They traveled to the Orient, and throughout the country for bowling tournaments with the women's and men's leagues. In 2007, Dottie always believed that she was blessed to have the opportunity to travel with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to a variety of places, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Whether she was roasting marshmallows in a backyard campfire or playing charades, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, have the memories of their beloved Grammy. Dottie was involved in many clubs and activities from the 1960's to 2016, which are too many to mention but, some of her most memorable, she enjoyed the WIM club, bowling leagues, Lady's Elks, sew Lady Putters, The Red Hatters, Bocce and so many more. Her calendar was always full. Dottie was involved in any community she lived in. Whether she was organizing a Thanksgiving feast at the local Catholic church for all to attend, Christmas shopping with less fortunate children, or providing refreshments for meetings, her hand was always up to volunteer. Dottie loved life and lit up the room whenever she walked in. She never knew a stranger and would give you the shirt off her back. Her genuine smile was enough to make you feel comforted and loved and her infectious laugh would get the whole room laughing. Dottie's motto was "Live-Laugh-Love" in which she instilled in her family as she displayed that in everything she did. Live life, tomorrow isn't guaranteed, laugh until it hurts, and love always. Dottie was an incredible wife, mother, Grammy, and friend and will be missed immensely, but she will live in our hearts forever. Until we meet in heaven, Rest in Paradise sweet lady. She is survived by her husband, Herb; son, Mike (Lisa); daughter, Mickey (Tom); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Curt (Doll); nieces and nephews; numerous family members; and hundreds of friends around the globe. A celebration of Dottie's life will be held on Feb. 4, 2017 at 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd., Sun City West, from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dottie's honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
