Desert Foundation Auxiliary holds luncheon in Paradise Valley

Meeting recognizes charities, welcomes new members and leaders

May 16 Correction: A prior version of this article incorrectly listed the names of three members who earned Desert Foundation Auxiliary lifetime membership status.

Desert Foundation Auxiliary, a 501(c)(3) founded in 1965, held its 57th annual luncheon in February at Paradise Valley Country Club to recognize the selected charities, present them with a donation from the proceeds from the 2022 Desert Ball and to elect its 2023-24 Board of Directors.

DFA presented to the 2022 charities, Hope & A Future and Scottsdale Partners, checks from the proceeds of the 56th Desert Ball which was held on Dec. 22, 2022 to provide funds to nonprofits that focus on charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes.

DFA also celebrated three members who had achieved lifetime membership status (membership of 35 years): Mrs. Bennett Dorrance, Mrs. James Meyer and Mrs. James Schmidt. All three women joined the organization in 1987.

Honoring the traditions of DFA, the outgoing president, ball chair and co-chair transitioned their positions as the new board was elected at the luncheon event, as well as eight new members to the organization.
