Deer Valley Unified teacher a finalist for Four Peaks’ Teacher of the Year

A Deer Valley Unified School District teacher is among those selected to win a $1,000 cash grant from Four Peaks Brewing Co.’s annual program supporting teachers, and he is still in the running for an even bigger grand prize.

Aaron Arnold, an English Language Arts teacher at Barry Goldwater High School, is among 10 teachers to have won $1,000 through the Tempe brewery’s Four Peaks for Teachers program.

The initiative helps reduce the financial burden on teachers not only in Arizona but in the Southwest, many of whom spend hundreds of dollars on school supplies each year. Using direct donations and money raised through beer sales, Four Peaks buys supplies in need for teachers, from scissors and staplers to pencils and paper. The money also supports free school supply kits in multiple cities and states.

This year Four Peaks is supporting thousands of teachers by distributing more than 7,000 school supply kits to teachers in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

Arnold is also a finalist for the grand prize Teacher of the Year award, which includes a $3,000 cash grant and custom teachers’ lounge makeover at the eventual winner’s school.

“When it comes to dedicated teachers, Aaron Arnold, stands out as exceptional. I have had the privilege of witnessing his tireless commitment to creating extraordinary learning experiences for his students,” read a submitted nomination statement shared by Four Peaks. “Every day, he pours his heart-and-soul into his lessons, going above and beyond to make them meaningful, engaging, and tailored to each student's needs. It's only after studying education myself that I grasp the incredible effort he seamlessly puts into every aspect of his teaching. He goes the extra mile to personalize and differentiate each lesson, ensuring that every student can thrive and achieve their full potential.”

Barry Goldwater High School is located at 2820 W. Rose Garden Lane.

The grand prize winner will be selected by the end of the month.

Four Peaks opened in 1997.
