Corder: If permits granted, people will leave Sun City

Posted

I moved to Sun City 10 years ago to enjoy the activities and the peace and quiet.

Evidently, I am not the only one. I have had several residents say if this overlay is permitted (“Overlay decision in limbo,” Sun City Independent, Dec. 7, 2022), they will be putting their place on the market before property values start to decrease and taxes increase. Before the rec centers become schools or day care centers.

When we bought our place, our Realtor carefully pointed out the conditions of the CC&Rs and we signed to adhere to those. Are the Realtors no longer doing that? I overheard a discussion at a restaurant where the person said they asked about the ages. The Realtor told them not to worry about that. They would help them get around the age limit. Please note, I only overheard this.

There should be no need for discussion about this. The children go. The county should not need to be involved in this. The property owners should not be putting anyone in the position of having to tell them the child is allowed only 90 days during a 12-month period. They know the rules. Adhere to them or move.

I love my children, loved raising them, going to their school events, celebrating birthdays and holidays. Now, I go to their homes for these events. My grandchild comes for a week or two every year. We have a wonderful time.

Again, stop putting us in this position. Adhere to the CC&Rs.
