Clyde Edward Fore

DEKALB, Ill. - Clyde Edward Fore, formerly of Elgin, Ill., and Sun City, passed away at his home early in the morning on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016. Born Nov. 22, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Walton and Lillian (Werner) Fore. Clyde married Barbara Geisz Barron on July 28, 1951. He was employed by the Elgin Watch Company for 26 years as a steel engraver. He later worked for General Mills in West Chicago, Ill. Clyde was a six year veteran of the United States Navy. He served during World War II, helping to clean up the damage at Pearl Harbor and later serving on six war patrols on the submarine USS Dace. After the war he was commended for helping to bring a captured Japanese submarine back from Japan to Pearl Harbor. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed many fun filled days fishing in the Fox River, Chain of Lakes, Lake Michigan, lakes all over Wisconsin and especially in later years at Shabbona Lake. He enjoyed many other outdoor activities, including the collecting of fossils, geodes and Petoskey stones from many parts of the USA. He collected and preserved many species of butterflies and moths, some of which are on display at the Russell's Woods Museum. Clyde has influenced so many adults and children in his lifetime, teaching us all about life, origami, fishing, butterflies and respect for nature. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his brother, Earl; his son, Paul; and his parents. He is survived by his son William (Linda) Barron; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. There will be no service or visitation. Interment of cremated remains will be conducted at a later date at East Dundee Township Cemetery in Dundee.
