Buckeye city manager announces retirement

Buckeye City Manager Roger Klingler who announced his pending retirement in August 2021, confirmed his retirement begins Feb. 1.

 

Klingler began his career in Buckeye in 2014 as the assistant city manager, and became full-time City Manager in 2017.

 

“Thank you to mayor, city council and all city employees for entrusting me with leading the city during some incredibly challenging times,” said Klingler. “Our fast-paced growth topped with a pandemic brought us together as a city, and allowed up to accomplish major projects that benefit our entire community. You are all incredibly talented and passionate about your work, and I will miss working with all of you.”

 

“Roger, your leadership shaped Buckeye into the great city it is today,” said Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn. “Your commitment to excellence created sound fiscal management, outstanding customer service and the best quality of life for our residents. You will be missed, but we wish you a happy and fulfilling retirement.” 

 

Assistant City Manager James Shano was appointed interim city manager at the Feb. 1 City Council meeting. Shano has more than 25 years of municipal experience ranging from technical/professional engineering to executive level management.

Recruitment is currently underway for a new City Manager.
